Hooking up a Nintendo Wii to a Cradlepoint Router using WiFi.

Using your computers wireless manager, or an ethernet cable if applicable, connect to the Cradlepoint router.

Open your browser and enter 192.168.0.1 in the address bar of your browser.

Entering the last 6 characters of the MAC address will get you into the Admin level of the router.

Go to the Tools tab and select 'User Login' from the menu on the left of the screen.

Find ‘Require User Login’ and uncheck the box. (Earlier Firmware versions will find this box under the Basic tab, click 'wireless'.

Click ‘Save Settings’ at the top of the page, leave this page open as we will return to it later.

Turn on the power to your Wii

Now search for an access point on the Wii consoles main menu, just click on the Wii button in the lower left hand corner.

Now click on Wii Settings

Clicking on the blue arrow on the right side will take you to a second settings screen.

Select Internet, select Connection Settings, select None, select Wireless Connection, then ‘Search for an Access Point’.

The Wii should search for wireless routers within range and display a list, choose your router from the list and click OK.

If you previously selected a security level for the router there will be a padlock icon next to the name and you must enter the same settings in the Wii that you entered into the Cradlepoint.

Click ‘Save’ and then click ‘OK’ but DO NOT choose OK to start a connection test!

Back on your computer, click on the Advanced tab on top and select Gaming from the menu on the left of the screen.

Under ‘ADD GAME RULE’ be certain that the  ‘Enable:’ box  is checked, and in the box next to ‘Name:’ type in “Nintendo Wii”,

Next to ‘TCP Ports to open:’ type 80, 443, 28910, 29900, 29901, 29920 (exactly with commas)

Next to ‘UDP ports to open:’ type 1-65535 (exactly again).  Click ‘Save’

Return to your Wii and click on ‘Choose OK to start a connection test’.

If you are still having difficulties (Wifi only), Nintendo tech support has recommended changing the channel of the router to either 1 or 11
